President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to buy a large package from the US and is counting on it as a security guarantee. The state is ready to find "either 30 or 50 billion" for such a package.
He said this at a meeting with journalists, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Regarding the additional package, we want and we are ready, and we have transferred to the American side a large package that we want to buy. Buy in one form or another. This is our format, how we will pay for it. And we did not ask for the future package for free. We are counting on it even as a security guarantee," Zelenskyy said at a meeting with journalists.
He explained that Ukraine will count on this package, which includes air defense and other necessary tools, as a security guarantee.
"And then, please, there is an agreement, we will give the money, whether you want it to this fund or if you want, we will pay you directly. We don't care," Zelenskyy added.
Zelenskyy also added that he had asked the US for at least ten air defense systems.
"This is protection, it will help us after the end of the war, it is a guarantee of security, that Ukraine is covered by air defense. There are many different formats and tools that we are ready for. We were ready to find either 30 or 50 billion for such a package," he said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy appealed to Ukraine's partners and called on them to fulfill the agreements on air defense that were not implemented.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said that he was "unpleasantly surprised" by the reaction of the US embassy, which did not use the word "Russian" when commenting on the strike on Kryvyi Rih.
