Army already receiving fiber-optic drones with cable of up to 20 kilometers - Syrskyi

Drones on fiber-optic with a cable of 20 kilometers long, which are insensitive to the effects of electronic warfare, are already arriving at the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and this may deprive the russians of the advantages they currently have. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said this in an interview with lb.ua.

The Commander-in-Chief also hopes that in two or three months Ukraine will be able to significantly increase the number of fiber-optic FPVs and this, in his opinion, will practically deprive the russian federation of the advantages it currently has.

"And, of course, the increase in ground drones. There are a lot of them being produced now. Remotely controlled modules. They all have elements of artificial intelligence, that is, they are able to detect targets independently, identify them, and are able to fire in automatic, semi-automatic mode," he said.

Syrskyi also reported that Ukraine seeks to develop high-tech weapons.

"We continue to expand in this direction, increasing the number, scale and capabilities within the framework of deepstrike, that is, long-range damage, and have already exceeded the figure of 1,700 kilometers. On the one hand," he said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces are increasing the use of drones on fiber-optic control.

Unmanned fiber-optic systems with a damage range of 20 km are already operating at the front, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

According to the manufacturers, they were prompted to create fiber-optic drones by similar production from the russians, who began mass-producing them in the summer of 2024. It was then that videos began to appear on the Internet with the destruction of Ukrainian equipment and military drones on fiber-optic, and now this type of drone is becoming an increasingly serious problem for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
