This is victory, not a betrayal. Mylovanov on possible conflict of interest with Svyrydenko

President of the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) Tymofii Mylovanov commented on the accusations of MP Volodymyr Ariev regarding a possible conflict of interest in connection with the work of First Vice-Premier and Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko at his educational institution.

He did this in a post on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Finally, we are not discussing factories or land, but whether there is a conflict of interest due to teaching at one of the most prestigious universities in the country. This is a victory," Mylovanov wrote in his post.

The KSE president called the situation a political attack, which at the same time demonstrates a new level of transparency in Ukrainian politics.

He noted that Svyrydenko's salary of USD 6,000 meets market standards for specialists of this level, and KSE pays even higher fees for lectures by leading world experts. In particular, the Nobel laureate's fee for participating in the KSE event amounted to USD 70,000 for 2.5 days.

Mylovanov explained that Svyrydenko's educational activities are not related to projects implemented with grant funds. The relevant projects are carried out by other structures that have separate management and compliance systems.

"Svyrydenko does not influence funding decisions, and her presence, on the contrary, complicates the attraction of funds, because it requires greater transparency," Mylovanov emphasized.

According to the president of the institution, KSE seeks to involve politicians and first-level figures in training, including the prime minister or president.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a Verkhovna Rada member from the European Solidarity faction stated about a possible conflict of interest of the First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko in connection with her receipt of fees from the Kyiv School of Economics, whose president is Tymofii Mylovanov, against the backdrop of personnel decisions regarding representatives of this structure in state-owned enterprises.
