President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Andrii Melnyk from the post of Ambassador to Brazil and appointed him as Ukraine's representative to the United Nations.
This is stated in decrees No. 207 and No. 215 dated April 7, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"To appoint Andrii Yaroslavovych Melnyk as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations," decree No. 215 states.
At the same time, decree No. 207 dismissed Melnyk from the post of Ukraine's Ambassador to Brazil.
49-year-old Melnyk has been Ambassador to Brazil since June 2023.
In 2014-2022, he was Ambassador to Germany.
In 2022-2023, Melnyk held the position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, from December 2019 to December 2024, Serhii Kyslytsia was the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, and in February, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed him First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
