Trump's tariffs brought Brent crude oil prices to their lowest since April 2021

The price of Brent crude has fallen by almost 13% since US President Donald Trump announced tariffs on almost all countries in the world. During today's trading, quotes fell to USD 65.34 per barrel.

This was reported by The Moscow Times, citing trading data.

By the time trading closed on April 2, the day before Trump announced the tariffs, a barrel of Brent crude was worth USD 74.95. By the evening of the next day, the price of oil had dropped to USD 70.14.

It is noted that on April 3, the price of oil stopped near the USD 69-70 range, which it had not been able to overcome at least five times since September 2024.

However, today the price of Brent crude began to decline sharply. As of 2:00 p.m., the price of oil had fallen to USD 65.36 per barrel. It was this low in April 2021.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of tariffs for almost all countries in the world, thereby starting a global trade war.

Recall that the list of new US tariffs did not include russia and Belarus, as well as several other countries.

As Politico wrote, Trump's decision threatens the US defense industry, as tariffs could disrupt global supply chains and increase the cost of production.
