Tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump could disrupt global supply chains and make production more expensive.
Politico writes this with reference to its own sources.
The tariffs could complicate cooperation with other countries to counter China. Joint ventures for submarine construction with the United Kingdom and Australia will be the first to feel the problems.
In addition, joint projects between the US and European partners in the production of weapons may be reviewed due to distrust of the Americans.
Politico analysts note that the US desire to produce spare parts "without excessive dependence on imports for basic materials" is difficult to implement. The Pentagon had an extensive network of suppliers and companies that are now facing tariffs. Now weapons production will be delayed, there will be a supply shortage.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of "reciprocal tariffs" in response to the actions of other countries of the world, in particular, Ukraine will be subject to "base" 10% tariffs.
Hetmantsev believes that the introduction of a 10% tariff by the US for Ukraine, given Ukraine's foreign trade deficit with the US of USD 2.6 billion, is economic cynicism of the highest order.
US President Donald Trump has introduced tariffs for many countries of the world, setting a minimum rate of 10%. Ukraine also fell under the new tariffs, but russia, North Korea, Cuba and Belarus are not on the list.
