China imposes 34% tariff in response to US goods

China will impose a 34% tariff on all US imports starting April 10. This was reported by the official Xinhua news agency.

This is how Beijing reacted to US President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 34% tariff on Chinese imports.

Thus, the Tariff Commission of the State Council of China noted that the tariff will be imposed on all imported goods from the United States starting April 10. Beijing called the new tariffs a "typical unilateral step of intimidation" by Washington.

It is also noted that the United States' approach contradicts international trade rules and seriously harms the legitimate rights and interests of the PRC.

"China calls on the US to immediately cancel unilateral tariff measures and resolve trade differences through consultations on an equal, respectful and reciprocal basis," the message said.

A Commerce Department official said China has also filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization over the U.S. tariffs.

Meanwhile, tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump could disrupt global supply chains and make manufacturing more expensive.

On April 2, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the introduction of “reciprocal tariffs” in response to actions by other countries around the world, including Ukraine, which will be subject to a “base” 10% tariff.
