UAH 150,000 temporary limit on card transfers of individuals expires tomorrow

The temporary limit on card transfers of individuals in the amount of UAH 150,000 expires tomorrow, April 1.

This is evidenced by the NBU data on the establishment of the relevant limits, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

From October 1, 2024, the National Bank temporarily, for half a year, set a limit of UAH 150,000 per month for transfers of individuals "from card to card" (also known as P2P, C2C).

The limit applies only to the amount of outgoing transfers from all client accounts opened in the same bank to the accounts of other individuals.

The limit does not apply to the accounts of volunteers who meet the criteria specified by the resolution and persons whose monthly income from confirmed sources exceeds the amount of the established limit.

And also in the case of transferring funds between the client's own accounts opened in the same bank, and to transfers of legal entities.

Operations using IBAN details are not limited.

At the same time, in early December last year, PrivatBank, Oschadbank, Mono and Raiffeisen Bank reduced the limits on transfers from cards to UAH 50,000 per month, having signed a corresponding indefinite memorandum.

In the same month, 25 more banks and financial companies joined the memorandum on reducing limits on card transfers: JSC Ukreximbank, JSC UKRGASBANK, JSC CRYSTALBANK, JSC CB GLOBUS, PJSC MTB BANK, JSC RADABANK, JSC Idea Bank, JSC ALTBANK, JSC Bank Alliance, JSC EPB, JSC CLEARING HOUSE, JSC Policombank, JSC BANK TRUST-CAPITAL, JSC Ukrainian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, JSC OXI BANK, JSC FIRST INVESTMENT BANK, JSC AGROPROSPERIS BANK, LLC NovaPay, JSC ProCredit Bank, JSC Kominbank, JSC Pravex Bank, LLC FC EVO (RozetkaPay), JSC BANK UKRAINIAN CAPITAL, JSC SENSE BANK, JSC SKY-BANK.

The above-mentioned financial institutions cover more than 90% of issued payment cards and money transfers in Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the establishment of limits on money transfers through a memorandum of banks took place under the influence of the state. This opinion was expressed to journalists by the Verkhovna Rada member from the European Solidarity faction, member of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Nina Yuzhanina.

Card transfers of Ukrainians decreased by 6 pp. to 31.1% in 2024 compared to 2023, when they were 37.1%.

In Ukraine, financial monitoring is stricter than in Poland, writes Obozrevatel, referring to the response to the publication from PKO Bank Polski.

Polish banks, unlike Ukrainian ones, allow Ukrainians to buy cryptocurrency.
