Card transfers of Ukrainians down 6 pp to 31.1% in 2024

Card transfers of Ukrainians decreased by 6 pp to 31.1% in 2024 compared to 2023, when they amounted to 37.1%.

This is evidenced by data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

An analysis of the distribution of non-cash transactions by payment cards of Ukrainian issuers by their types shows that in 2024, the largest number of transactions using payment cards by number and amount fell on payments in the retail network.

This is 73.4% and 46.8%, respectively (over 6 billion transactions for almost UAH 2 billion).

Card-to-card transfers by amount amounted to 31.1% (or UAH 1,318.4 billion).

Their number was at the level of 8.2% of all non-cash transactions.

Payment for goods and services on the Internet amounted to 13.6% by volume and 14.7% by amount of all non-cash transactions with payment cards. This is UAH 622 billion.

The average amount of one transaction in Ukraine in 2024:

- in a retail network - UAH 330 (in 2023 - UAH 325),
- from a card-to-card transfer - UAH 1,958 (UAH 1,972),
- from payment for goods and services on the Internet - UAH 561 (UAH 490).
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier about 30 banks and financial institutions reduced the limits on card transfers to UAH 50,000 per month.
From October 1, 2024, the NBU set a limit of UAH 150,000 for half a year per month for outgoing transfers of individuals from card to card (P2P, person-to-person), although before that it considered a stricter limit - UAH 100,000 hryvnias.
In Ukraine, financial monitoring is stricter than in Poland, writes Obozrevatel, referring to the response to the publication from PKO Bank Polski.
Polish banks, unlike Ukrainian ones, allow Ukrainians to buy cryptocurrency.
