United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said that Ukraine is ruled by a legitimate government.
The UN Secretary-General said this during a conversation with media representatives.
Guterres was asked to comment on the statement of russian dictator vladimir putin, who proposed the introduction of temporary external administration over Ukraine under the auspices of the UN.
"Ukraine has a legitimate government, and therefore, obviously, it must be respected," the UN Secretary-General said.
When asked to comment on the russian dictator's position, he said that the UN is not directly involved in negotiations to end the war.
He added that the organization had a number of contacts on this topic with US representatives.
Recall that on March 27, russian dictator putin proposed to discuss the introduction of temporary external administration for Ukraine. According to him, such administration could be carried out under the auspices of the UN or several countries.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to putin's words by proposing to introduce foreign management for the aggressor country, russia.
