In the first quarter of 2025, the Ministry of Defense allocated almost UAH 12.3 billion to support combat brigades. This is announced in the statement of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
These funds are intended for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare equipment, vehicles and other equipment to increase the efficiency of units on the front line.
The Ministry of Defense notes that within the framework of the "Drone Line" program, the five most successful combat units in the use of UAVs were given the opportunity to independently purchase drones, electronic warfare equipment, and vehicles for mobile groups in order to form killzone on the front lines and prevent the movement of enemy manpower and transport.
Director of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense Hlib Kanevskyi emphasized that in early 2025, procurement rules for military units were changed, which allowed them to purchase both codified and non-codified products according to simplified procedures. Such rapid procurements allow combat brigades to test the best innovative models of domestic UAVs directly on the battlefield and offer them for scaling to the country's military-political leadership.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced in early March that the "Drone Line" project would be launched, which involves providing infantry with air support and cover and creating a killzone of 10-15 km, which will ensure that the enemy cannot advance without losses.
In February, the Ministry of Defense announced that in 2025, more than UAH 44 billion would be allocated for the purchase of FPV drones, in particular fiber-optic ones.
