Today, the "Drone Line" project will start, providing for the provision of air support and cover for infantry and the creation of a killzone of 10-15 km - it is impossible for the enemy to advance without losses.
This was announced by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Today, the "Drone Line" is launched - a project initiated by the President of Ukraine. Its goal is to develop the best unmanned systems units and scale their combat experience in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are creating a network of specialized units that will receive modern equipment, necessary resources and specialists. The "Drone Line" is the scaling of the most effective solutions in the army. Namely, the creation of a "killzone" of 10-15 km, which makes it impossible for the enemy to advance without losses by providing infantry with air support and cover," he said.
Umerov noted that the project has already received an additional UAH 4.6 billion in funding from the Ministry of Defense, which will be directed directly to the units: the purchase of UAVs, electronic warfare equipment, transport and everything necessary to perform combat missions.
The Minister added that both military and civilian personnel can join the project, to do this, you need to fill out a questionnaire on the website droneline.army.gov.ua or contact the hotline 0 800 301 314, you can also submit an application through the Diia or Army+ applications.
The Ministry of Defense notes that after filling out the questionnaire, candidates undergo selection - an interview and testing. For military personnel, there is a possibility of transfer to a unit, for civilians - escort from the territorial recruitment and social support center to the place of service.
Each recruit of the "Drone Line" will undergo a specialized program of combat use of military units, which includes tactical training, training in working with unmanned systems and mastering methods for intercepting enemy drones.
UAV operators, engineers, IT specialists, doctors, clerks and other specialists who are ready to work with advanced technologies and digital tools can join the project.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in February, Umerov announced that Ukraine is launching the "Drone Line" project, which will combine infantry and UAVs into a single strike system. According to him, the "Drone Line" will scale the most effective unmanned systems in the Ground Forces and the State Border Service.
The first stage covers five elite regiments and brigades: 20th Separate Regiment "K-2"; 429th Regiment "Achilles"; 427th Regiment "RAROG"; 414th Brigade "Birds of the Magyar"; Regiment "Phoenix" (Brigade "Revenge").
