Ukraine's Western partners are focused on achieving a real, lasting peace, since freezing the war is the worst possible scenario.
This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.
In his opinion, ensuring a long-term ceasefire is a difficult task that depends on many factors.
"Of course, we all strive for a complete cessation of hostilities throughout the territory of Ukraine and a just and lasting peace. But, as I said, a bad peace can be worse than no peace at all. A frozen conflict is the worst case scenario. Therefore, now it is worth focusing on achieving a real, lasting peace," Dragone summed up.
As a reminder, following the US talks with Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia in Saudi Arabia, all parties agreed to ensure safe shipping in the Black Sea and to implement a ban on strikes on energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said that the period between a ceasefire and reaching a peace agreement with russia could be very short, as the Kremlin is constantly violating agreements.
