EBRD approves loan for Naftogaz to purchase gas for next 2 heating seasons in amount of up to EUR 270 million Shmyhal

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan for the Naftogaz of Ukraine National Joint-Stock Company to purchase natural gas for the next two heating seasons in the amount of up to EUR 270 million.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Today, the EBRD approved a loan for NJSC Naftogaz to purchase natural gas for the next two heating seasons in the amount of up to EUR 270 million. Additionally, about EUR 140 million in grants from the Government of Norway will be sent through the EBRD. This resource will help us accumulate gas reserves in underground storage facilities for the next heating season," he said.

Shmyhal thanked the partners for their support.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine may import a record 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe due to russian attacks on energy infrastructure and depletion of reserves.
