Rada refuses to reduce pensions for prosecutors

The Verkhovna Rada has refused to introduce payments of pensions for long service to prosecutors only after their dismissal.

Iryna Herashchenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, announced this on her Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

A total of 223 parliamentarians voted for bill No. 12278, with the minimum required 226.

It was proposed to make changes to the procedure for paying pensions for long service to prosecutors.

Pensions for long service were to be paid only after a person was dismissed from the prosecutor's office.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans' Rights recommended that the parliament adopt in the first reading bill No. 12278, which proposes to pay pensions for long service to prosecutors only after dismissal.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office obliged prosecutors to notify the personnel department about their disability.
