Prosecutors obliged to inform personnel department about which of them are disabled

The Prosecutor General's Office obliged prosecutors to notify the personnel department about the establishment of their disability.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

As of today, there are 523 prosecutors with disabilities in prosecutor's offices of all levels.

This indicator is less than 6% of the total number of prosecutors and does not exceed 10% over prosecutor's offices.

A significant excess of this percentage is observed in the prosecutor's offices of Khmelnytskyi (29%) and Cherkasy Regions (27%).

Two prosecutors were diagnosed with the I group of disabilities, 328 with the II group, and 193 with the III group.

Among them, 348 or 67% are men, 175 or 33% are women.

386 prosecutors, or 74%, received the initial decision of the MSEC on establishment of  disability in the period until 2022.

According to the current legislation, MSEC is obliged to send to the place of work of a person with a disability a notice about the group of disability and the reason for its establishment.

At the same time, such messages from the MSEC to the prosecutor's offices were received only in isolated cases (only 10 such cases have been identified so far).

On October 25, 2024, by order of the Prosecutor General, changes were made to the Personnel Accounting Regulations, which oblige prosecutors to inform personnel departments about the establishment of their disability.

According to Article 86 of the Law "On the Prosecutor's Office", prosecutors, recognized as persons with a disability of group I or II, have the right to be granted a disability pension in the amount of a pension for years of service if they have the corresponding 10-year experience.

229 prosecutors, or about 70% of those with I and II groups, receive a pension precisely on such grounds.

Almost half of the total amount of pensions paid to these employees each month belongs to the prosecutor's office of the Cherkasy and Khmelnytskyi Regions.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, MPs want to take away the right to receive a disability pension from disabled prosecutors. The Verkhovna Rada refused to raise the salaries of prosecutors. 38% of the management staff of the prosecutor's office have registered disability.
