The US State Department condemned the consequences on the civilian population, speaking about the russian missile strike on the center of Sumy on March 24. The agency emphasized that the ceasefire is currently being worked on in Saudi Arabia.
The US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce announced this during a briefing.
"All of us decry the impact – this is why we do the work we do – on civilians. And it is why we continue to work for the ceasefire, and what the negotiations in Saudi are right now is to get that commitment and to get that done," she said, commenting on the Russian strike on Sumy on March 24.
Recall that the number of victims of the russian missile strike on the city of Sumy has increased to 101 people, 23 of whom are children.
"So that’s why we’re doing what we do, because of the results like that that in any war are problematic and heartbreaking and we want to stop and reverse. So that’s the point of why we’re doing what we’re doing right now," Bruce added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the afternoon of March 24, russian occupiers launched a missile strike on the center of Sumy, damaging several high-rise buildings and a school. The children were in shelters and were not injured.
40 children and 16 adults were evacuated from the site of the russian missile strike.
Six educational institutions were damaged as a result of the occupiers' attack on a residential area of Sumy on March 24, but no students were injured.
