US Special Envoy Witkoff says that Ukraine agrees to hold elections

Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that elections in Ukraine are necessary, and Ukraine has already agreed to hold them. He said this in an interview with Tucker Carlson.

"Yes, they agreed on it. There will be elections in Ukraine. I think Zelenskyy is doing everything possible," Witkoff said.

Also, Witkoff said that the President of Ukraine is now "in a very, very difficult situation."

"He is facing a nuclear state, and he is also facing a state that has four times the population than his. And so he needs to know that he can be defeated," he said.

He also said that now is the best time for Zelenskyy to make a deal, and Trump can give him the best deal he will ever get and added that russia does not recognize Zelenskyy as the legitimate President, so "is not ready to sign any agreement with him."

As a reminder, Politico, citing its own sources, reported on negotiations between members of Donald Trump's team and Zelenskyy's political opponents. The publication claimed that the parties allegedly discussed elections after a temporary cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada, on its second attempt, adopted its statement on the impossibility of holding elections during the war.
