Ukrainian military continues to hold defense in the Kursk Oblast, having good tactical positions.
This is stated in the CNN material, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
As the commander of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, Oleg Shyriaiev, who has been fighting in the Kursk Oblast for six months, noted to CNN, holding positions is necessary in order to block the enemy's advance.
The 225th Separate Assault Regiment broke through the russian positions in the Kursk Oblast in August last year.
Today, the assault regiment continues to carry out combat missions in the Kursk Oblast. It is difficult to hold positions, but the military continues to control them despite the enemy's numerical superiority.
Shyriaiev also stated that while on the defensive, we inflict very heavy losses on the enemy.
"Even if we are on the defensive now, we are still grinding the enemy down. (Russia) is still suffering losses, both in terms of human casualties and in terms of losses of military equipment and weapons. This must also be taken into account. Its losses, both now and during the entire period of the Kursk operation, are higher than the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, much higher," the commander emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the situation on the border of the Sumy Region with the Kursk Oblast of russia is under the control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
