President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during his last talks with US President Donald Trump, the issue of Crimea was not raised. The last time it was discussed was in September, before Trump's inauguration.
He said this at a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
"Trump did not raise this issue with me. We once talked about Crimea with him - back in September in New York. He was just interested in what it looked like: what was in it, why Ukrainians love it so much - because he heard that Ukrainians love Crimea very much. We just talked about it," the President said.
Recall that on September 27, 2024, a meeting took place between Zelenskyy and Trump, who was then still in the status of a US presidential candidate. At it, Zelenskyy was supposed to present Trump with a victory plan that he had already shown to US President Joe Biden and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris.
According to Zelenskyy, he explained to Trump that this is "unique nature, our integral part, this is our Ukrainian peninsula."
During the press conference, the President emphasized that currently temporarily occupied Crimea "is dying, all this nature is dying," in particular, because logistics are connected to mainland Ukraine, as well as due to the lack of tourists, most of whom were Ukrainians before the russian aggression.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in the meantime, Zelenskyy announced talks between delegations of Ukraine and the United States on Monday, March 24, in Saudi Arabia.
