Finland has topped the world happiness ranking for the eighth year in a row, while Ukraine has dropped from 105th to 111th place in a year.
This is reported in the World Happiness Report study.
The top twenty happiest countries in the world are as follows: Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Lithuania, Austria, Canada, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic.
Afghanistan is again at the bottom of the list - 147th place. Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe round out the top five unhappiest countries in the world.
Ukraine has dropped to 111th place in the ranking this year.
The United States (24th place) fell to its lowest ever score, while the United Kingdom (23rd place) reported its lowest average life assessment since the report was published in 2017.
Costa Rica and Mexico entered the top ten happiest countries for the first time.
The report is based on surveys of residents of 147 countries.
The surveys examine several aspects, including GDP per capita, life expectancy, level of social support, corruption and other data.
The happiness index is measured based on survey data for three years. The 2025 rating is based on data for 2022-2024.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, last year Finland topped the world happiness rating. Where did Ukraine rank?
Even before the full-scale invasion, Ukraine ranked last in the ranking of happy countries. In 2019, Ukraine ranked 133rd and was between Chad and Ethiopia.
