Ukraine will not participate in the negotiations between representatives of the US and the aggressor country of russia in Saudi Arabia. The day before, the White House announced that the meeting should take place this Sunday, March 23.
Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said this in a comment to the British publication The Guardian.
According to Podoliak, the negotiations scheduled for Sunday will be bilateral. That is, the US and russian delegations will participate in them. There will be no Ukrainian representatives at this meeting.
He said that Ukraine will have to wait for the results of the call between US President Donald Trump and russian dictator vladimir putin to find out when the negotiations with the participation of Kyiv will take place.
"The President wants to fully understand the content of this call from Trump. The main thing is to understand how Trump assesses the results of his conversation with putin, and draw conclusions from this," Podoliak added.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier today, March 19, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff said that a new round of talks on a ceasefire in Ukraine will take place in Saudi Arabia on March 23.
As a reminder, yesterday, March 18, President Trump had a telephone conversation with russian dictator putin, as a result of which the Kremlin leader agreed to stop strikes on energy infrastructure facilities.
The Kremlin website stated after the leaders' conversation that putin demanded to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine in order to achieve a complete ceasefire along the entire front line.
Later, Trump stated that putin did not demand to stop military aid to Ukraine in his conversation with him.
