In accordance with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, prices for medicines are gradually decreasing in Ukraine: manufacturers have already reduced prices of popular medicines by 30%.
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection announced this on its official website, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"According to the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, a tendency towards a gradual decrease in prices for medicines has been recorded. This also applies to the TOP-100 most popular medicines, the prices for which manufacturers have reduced by 30%," the message quoted Serhii Tkachuk, head of the State Service on Food and Consumer Protection, as saying.
It is also noted that within 2 weeks, the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection received 567 appeals from Ukrainians regarding overpricing of medicines, most of them from residents of the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Poltava, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn Regions and the city of Kyiv.
Upon appeals, specialists of the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection took appropriate measures:
- 3,747 observations of price fluctuations were conducted;
- 210 unscheduled inspections were approved;
- 52 inspections were initiated;
- violations were established in 4 cases: increases from the established surcharges ranged from 2% to 72%.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of February 12 to reduce medicine prices.
Earlier, Zelenskyy called drug prices in Ukraine inadequate and said that a way had been found to reduce prices for the top 100 medical products by 30% from March 1.
The relevant association agreed to reduce drug prices.
On February 19, Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers signed a declaration on a 30% reduction and stabilization of prices for the 100 most popular Ukrainian drugs from March 1.
At the end of February, Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers announced that they would reduce prices for more than 100 medications.
