"Radical propaganda." Trump explains termination of funding for Voice of America

The White House published an explanation for the termination of funding for the Voice of America broadcaster, noting that "taxpayers will no longer be on the hook for radical propaganda."

Trump used quotes from various media outlets accusing the broadcaster of violating journalistic standards.

The White House also stated that several Voice of America journalists published comments directed against Trump on their X social media accounts, despite the policy of impartiality.

  • Voice of America is misallocating funds and silencing negative stories about Iran.
  • In October 2020, Voice of America reported on a possible russian role in the scandal involving the laptop of Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden. The Trump administration viewed this as an attempt to “cover up the truth.”
  • In July 2020, Voice of America was criticized for “spreading stories and videos that appear too favorable to presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.”
  • In September 2019, the Daily Caller reported that Voice of America had hired a russian anti-American propagandist.
  • In March 2019, Voice of America aired a story about transgender migrants seeking asylum in the United States.
