Voice of America Ukrainian Service suspends broadcasting

Voice of America Ukrainian Service suspended broadcasting. All employees have been placed on administrative leave.

This was announced by Ruslan Petrychka, the head of Voice of America Ukrainian Service.

"Voice of America Ukrainian has suspended broadcasting for the time being. All employees have been placed on administrative leave. What will happen next is unknown. Now I want to thank all our colleagues for their fantastic work all these years. And to all of you for your support and trust. I will share just one figure. According to a recent large-scale survey of our audience, 99% of everyone who saw the news from Voice of America Ukrainian said they trust us. I think this is an incredible achievement in a time of total distrust and lies. I am proud of our team. We will see what happens next," Petrychka wrote.

Petrychka shared a post by Voice of America director Michael Abramowitz, who confirmed that the media resource had suspended broadcasting.

"I am deeply saddened that for the first time in 83 years, the narrative Voice of America is going silent. On the morning of March 15, I learned that almost the entire Voice of America staff - more than 1,300 journalists, producers and support staff - have been placed on administrative leave. Me too," Abramowitz wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump has ordered the maximum reduction of Radio Svoboda, Voice of America and a number of other state agencies.
