Rada National Security Committee explains why Ukraine needs 30-day ceasefire

A 30-day ceasefire in the russian-Ukrainian war should give Ukraine an opportunity to work out the issue of security guarantees.

Yehor Chernev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction and first deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, told journalists, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"This ceasefire should give us time to work out the issue of security guarantees, which is important, which is the first issue in concluding and conditions for concluding a long-term peace," he said.

According to him, further steps regarding a long-term ceasefire should be taken by both sides in order for this peace to become permanent.

Chernev allows the ceasefire to continue after 30, but only on condition that the regime is not violated by either side.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine should not stop general mobilization and abolish martial law in the event of an agreement on a ceasefire for 30 days.

Ukraine accepts the US proposal to establish a complete ceasefire not only regarding missiles, drones and bombs, not only in the Black Sea, but also along the entire front line.
