Employees of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have been ordered to destroy all classified documents and personal files.

The organization's employees received letters from the acting executive secretary of USAID, Erica Carr, who asked them to empty the safes with classified materials and destroy them later.
"Shred as many documents first, and reserve the burn bags for when the shredder becomes available or needs a break," the letter says.
Usually, such documents are burned in special centers with compliance with security procedures.
The letter has caused concern, because the letters may be needed during lawsuits related to employee layoffs and the termination of funding for the agency. In addition, destroying federal records without special permission may be a violation of the law.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States is officially canceling 83% of the USAID programs.
Prior to this, the administration of US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of more than 90% of payments to foreign countries from the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This information became known from the lawsuit. The total maximum value of the withheld grants is approximately USD 57 billion.
Against this background, billionaire Elon Musk accused the USAID of spreading the coronavirus and spreading propaganda. After these accusations, Musk deleted the organization's account from the social network.
On January 29, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to allocate funds from the budget to finance a number of key USAID programs that were terminated after the decree of US President Donald Trump.
