President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to allocate funds from the budget to finance a number of key programs of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which were suspended after the decree of US President Donald Trump.
Zelenskyy stated this during a traditional video address to Ukrainians on Wednesday, January 29.
According to him, today [January 29] he listened to reports from the Minister for Reconstruction Oleksii Kuleba and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Mykyta. They informed him about critically important programs funded by USAID.
These are distributed generation projects, as well as resilience programs for Ukrainian cities and villages.
Also, due to Trump's decision, funding for veteran projects and programs for the operation of border checkpoints was suspended.
"I have already instructed to do some key things with our own funds, as well as to talk to the Europeans," Zelenskyy said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 26, Suspilne wrote that the Ukrainian office of USAID had received an order to suspend the implementation of all projects. An unnamed employee of the office told the publication about this.
Recall, on January 20, US President Donald Trump signed a decree ordering the suspension of international aid funding for all countries for three months.
