Ukraine exports 404,000 tons of sugar in 6M of 2024/25 MY

In the first 6 months of the 2024/25 marketing year (from September 2024 to February 2025), Ukraine exported over 403,500 tons of sugar.

The Ukrsugar Association announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, 98.4% of the volume was sent to the world market, 1.6% to EU countries.

Exports to the EU resumed in February and amounted to 6,559 tons.

The main EU countries where Ukrainian sugar went were Bulgaria (72% of the exported volume), Greece (12%) and Italy (12%).

It is noted that the main export destinations of Ukrainian sugar in the first 6 months of the 2024/25 MY remain Turkey (18% of total exports), Libya, North Macedonia, Somalia and Sri Lanka.

In the 2024 production season, Ukrainian sugar producers produced 1.8 million tons of sugar.

The volume of the domestic market in Ukraine is currently estimated at 900,000 tons per year.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, Ukraine exported 746,300 tons of sugar worth USD 419 million, which is a historical record for sugar exports.
