Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhii Leshchenko said that Kyiv is ready for a ceasefire in the sky and at sea, but not on the ground. Such a ceasefire option would allow the aggressor country russia to restore its troops.
Leshchenko made the corresponding statement during a telethon on Monday, March 10. His words are quoted by Ukrinform.
"He (US President Donald Trump — ed.) says: is there a ceasefire plan? We answer that we have a ceasefire plan. We propose to cease fire from the sky. We are talking about drones, missiles, ballistics. And we also propose to cease fire at sea <...> We also propose not to attack the energy sector <...> But Ukraine also has something to answer. You want a ceasefire — we are ready. But not on the ground," Leshchenko said.
According to him, Ukraine will not agree to a ceasefire on the ground, as russia will use it to restore its forces and resume the war with renewed vigor.
Leshchenko noted that Ukraine is ready to undertake not to attack russian targets at sea, since the initiative in the Black Sea is on the side of the Ukrainian military.
The advisor to the head of the President's Office also said that currently 70% of strikes on russian targets on the ground are carried out using drones. American assistance to Ukraine is critical, but not enough to stop hostilities on the terms imposed on it.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2019, Trump's entourage managed to call Leshchenko a personal "enemy of the American leader." This was preceded by Leshchenko's publication on the eve of the 2016 US presidential election of the so-called "black book" - allegedly the shadow accounting of the Party of Regions, which included Trump's chief of staff Paul Manafort.
Leshchenko began publishing devastating posts about Manafort himself and his patron, Trump, calling his activism "the final nail in the coffin."
On March 1, US President Donald Trump said he wanted an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. According to him, if President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to fight, let him do so, but without American help, Ukraine supposedly has no chance.
Shortly before that, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that this year Ukraine and russia would manage to achieve a ceasefire.
