US President Donald Trump said that he wants the hostilities to end first before providing security guarantees.
This was reported by Sky News with reference to Trump's speech at the White House on Friday, March 7.
The US President stressed that he has a different view of the development of the situation in Ukraine than Europe. The publication writes that Trump wants the hostilities to end first, while Ukraine calls for security guarantees to reach a peace agreement.
"Before I even think about it, I want to settle the war, bring it to an end. As for the issue of security later, that's the easy part. The hardest part is to settle the situation," the US President emphasized.
According to him, Ukraine must "get on board" and "do the job."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 5, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said that Trump would consider restoring aid to Ukraine if peace talks were organized and confidence-building measures were taken.
On March 6, Trump's Special Envoy to russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that Washington had stopped military aid to Kyiv in order to force it to sign a deal.
On March 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the war must be stopped as soon as possible.
