CEC recognizes Melnik as MP from Servant of the People party instead of Kormyshkina, because Svyryba refused her mandate

The Central Election Commission recognized Serhii Melnik as an elected member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People party instead of Iryna Kormyshkina, who resigned her mandate after being suspected of illicit enrichment, because Inna Svyryba refused to be MP.

This is stated in the CEC's message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The CEC reported that the commission received an application from Svyryba, who was recognized as an elected MP in the snap elections of MPs of Ukraine on July 21, 2019 in the nationwide multi-mandate electoral district from the Servant of the People party, to renounce her MP mandate.

The CEC reviewed the document and recognized Svyryba as one who did not obtain MP mandate.

"At the same time, the commission recognized Serhii Melnik, the next candidate in line, included in the electoral list of the political party Servant of the People under No. 149, as the elected MP of Ukraine in the specified elections," the message says.

According to media reports, 62-year-old Melnik, as of 2019, was an individual entrepreneur, and before running for the Verkhovna Rada, he worked in law enforcement agencies. He graduated from the Odesa Higher Artillery Command School, receiving a military specialty - command tactical artillery. Later, he obtained a lawyer's qualification at the Ya. Mudry National Law Academy.

If Melnyk refuses the mandate, the spokesperson for the Servant of the People faction, Yuliya Paliychuk, may become MP, after her on the list of candidates is the author of the Telegram channel Joker Roman Kravets.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the CEC previously recognized Inna Svyryba, included in the electoral list of the political party Servant of the People under No. 148, as a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, instead of Kormyshkina.

On February 25, the Verkhovna Rada prematurely terminated the powers of Iryna Kormyshkina (formerly Allakhverdieva), MP from the Servant of the People faction. Earlier, Kormyshkina stated that she received UAH 14 million as a gift from her father, but did not have time to legalize them because he died, but the NACP did not believe this.
