During an official visit to moscow, Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing unexpectedly called the president of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin "king." According to the high-ranking official, putin has been leading russia for a long enough time to deserve this honorary title.
This is reported by the russian newspaper Vedomosti.
Hlaing emphasized that he has personally visited russia 11 times and feels almost at home there.
"As far as I know, you have been leading Russia for not five or ten years, but for quite a long time. You are no longer just the leader of the country, but you can say that you are the king of this country <...> I do not feel like a guest here, but I feel at home. The distances between our countries are great, but we are close to each other in hearts," the Myanmar Prime Minister said.
In addition, he claimed to have met putin in a past life. He also presented the russian dictator with a Buddhist book describing the relationship between the king of Myanmar and the russian tsar.
The unexpected elevation of putin to "king" took place during official talks, where the parties discussed a number of important issues of bilateral cooperation, including plans for the russians to build a nuclear power plant in Myanmar.
Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence reported that russia uses Myanmar as an intermediary for the purchase of weapons.
