The suspension of military aid to Ukraine from the US could push Kyiv toward a "peace process," said the russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov. CNN quoted him as saying on Tuesday, March 4.
Peskov said that the bulk of military aid to Ukraine came from the US, while European countries would try to compensate for the reduction in supplies. According to the kremlin, the suspension of arms aid could be an impetus for the peace process, while Peskov refused to say whether russia was ready for a ceasefire.
"If the US were to suspend these supplies, it would probably be the best contribution to peace," the kremlin spokesman said.
The kremlin is awaiting details of the US decision.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 3, the American publication The Wall Street Journal wrote, citing sources, that the Trump administration had instructed to stop financing new arms sales to Ukraine.
On March 4, Bloomberg and CNN reported that US President Donald Trump had instructed to halt arms supplies to Ukraine.
On March 4, Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, said that Ukraine's stockpile would last for about six months without systematic arms supplies from the US.
