US President Donald Trump has asked russian dictator vladimir putin to mediate in talks with Iran over its nuclear program and support for "regional anti-US proxies".
Bloomberg reported this on Tuesday, March 4.
According to the publication, Trump personally asked putin to mediate during a phone call in February, and a few days later, US administration officials discussed the same issue with russian officials in Saudi Arabia.
"Russia agreed to assist US President Donald Trump’s administration in communicating with Iran on issues including the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program and its support for regional anti-US proxies, according to people familiar with the situation," the report said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that it was "natural" for countries to offer their assistance, show “goodwill” and readiness to help with various problems.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 10, Iran announced its readiness to provide support to Canada, Panama, Mexico and Greenland against US "aggression and terrorism" in response to US President Donald Trump's statements.
