The White House press service has published a statement stating that President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance will always defend the interests of the American people.
The statement was published after a public spat between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance will always stand up for the interests of the American people and those who respect the United States’ position in the world — and will never allow the American people to be taken advantage of," the publication says.
The White House also cited key phrases from Trump and Vance, which they uttered at a meeting with Zelenskyy.
Recall that earlier the official White House account on the social network X (formerly Twitter) published an image of the U.S. flag, signing it with the phrase "America First".
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Friday, February 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington for a visit.
The main purpose of the Ukrainian President's visit was to sign a mineral agreement. The Ukrainian President also planned to give a speech at the Hudson Institute.
However, during the public part of the meeting, Zelenskyy got into a heated argument with Trump over Washington's soft approach to russian dictator vladimir putin.
Later, Zelenskyy and Trump had a closed-door conversation, but it did not last long. As it later became known, the Ukrainian President left the White House early.
Some time later, Zelenskyy published a message on social networks in which he stated that Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace.
