President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not consider it necessary to apologize to U.S. President Donald Trump for their public argument that took place in the White House on February 28.
According to the Financial Times and CNN, Zelenskyy said this in an interview with the American TV channel Fox News.
Fox News host Bret Baier asked the Ukrainian leader whether he considered it necessary to apologize to Trump after the breakdown of negotiations in the Oval Office of the White House.
"No, I respect the President, and I respect the American people, and I think we should be very open and very honest, and I'm not sure we did anything wrong," Zelenskyy replied.
The Ukrainian President added that there are some things that "we should discuss outside the media."
Recall, in an interview with Fox News, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would be ready for diplomacy when the U.S. offers it effective security guarantees.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 28, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington to meet with Donald Trump. It was planned that the two leaders would sign an agreement on subsoil and rare earth minerals.
However, during the public part of the meeting, Zelenskyy got into a fierce skirmish with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, who also took part in the conversation.
Later, Zelenskyy and Trump had a closed-door conversation, but it did not last long. As it became known later, the Ukrainian President left the White House early, and the agreement was never signed.
Trump wrote on the Truth Social network that Zelenskyy was allegedly not ready for peace and showed disrespect for the U.S. He called on him to return when he was ready for negotiations.
