The Joint-Stock Company Ukrainian Defense Industry (Ukroboronprom) has agreed with Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Roshel to establish a joint production of armored vehicles in Ukraine.
The Ukroboronprom has said this in a statement on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The Joint-Stock Company Ukrainian Defense Industry has concluded an agreement to establish a joint production of Roshel armored vehicles. The Ukrainian enterprise will receive the necessary technical documentation and components for the production of vehicles," the message says.
Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin noted that the Canadian company's armored vehicles are already being used by the Ukrainian military.
"The production of this equipment in Ukraine will significantly accelerate its delivery to combat units. At the same time, it will strengthen the Ukrainian economy and give the Ukrainian manufacturer access to technologies. Thus, the Ukrainian defense industry is gradually integrating into the defense-industrial base of the countries of the free world," said Smetanin.
Ukroboronprom Director General Oleh Huliak added that the symbiosis of Western and Ukrainian armor should become a solid foundation for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"We are localizing the construction of Western armored vehicles, which is an excellent sign of the adaptive capacity of our production. At the same time, we continue to develop our own tanks and armored combat vehicles. The symbiosis of Western and Ukrainian armor should become a solid foundation for our Defense Forces," said Huliak.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February, Ukroboronprom and the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ) agreed on cooperation.
