Traffic will be partially allowed on Southern Bridge in Kyiv - Klitschko

The mayor of Kyiv announced the partial lifting of restrictions on traffic across the Southern Bridge.

According to the mayor of the capital, the authorities have agreed with the military to partially lift restrictions on traffic on the Southern Bridge in Kyiv.

“It has been agreed to allow traffic from the left to the right bank. Traffic from the right bank will remain unchanged for now. These are preliminary agreements. For this, additional decisions of the military are still needed, with whom consultations are ongoing. And after that - the decision of the City Defense Council,” Klitschko said.

He added that the city authorities will promptly notify about the finally adopted decisions.

According to him, in December last year, the city authorities appealed to the military and then there was no consent to open traffic in the usual mode on the Southern Bridge. Now, after consultations, there is an opportunity to partially lift the restrictions.

He noted that additional decisions by the military are needed to finally open the bridge, and after that, a decision by the City Defense Council.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Kyiv City State Administration has introduced a rule since August 2022 to stop public transport during air raids, with passengers recommended to get out of transport and head to the nearest shelters.

After that, Kyiv residents repeatedly created petitions asking the capital authorities to cancel the stoppage of public transport during air raids, but the Kyiv authorities rejected them.
