U.S. President Donald Trump said during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Secretary of Commerce that vladimir putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy should work together to end the war in Ukraine.

The German broadcaster Deutsche Welle has reported this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to media reports, during the ceremony in Washington, Trump stressed that russia is interested in signing the agreement, and negotiations between Washington and moscow will begin on February 25 in Saudi Arabia.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Donald Trump previously said that elections should be held in Ukraine, because Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly has a very low level of support among citizens.

Trump denied media reports that he intended to visit moscow on May 9 to celebrate the so-called "Victory Day."

He also said that a deal with Ukraine on mineral resources was close to being finalized, echoing comments made hours earlier by his National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.
