China supports the "recent consensus" between the U.S. and russia on the war in Ukraine, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. His words are quoted by The Hill.
Wang Yi noted that China has always advocated an early peaceful settlement of the "crisis" and is ready to continue to play a constructive role in the political settlement taking into account the requirements of the parties concerned.
"China supports all efforts committed to peace, including the recent consensus reached by the United States and Russia, and hopes that all parties concerned can find a sustainable and lasting solution that takes into account each other's concerns," Wang Yi said.
The Foreign Minister noted that calls for peace talks on Ukraine have been growing recently, and "the window for peace is opening."
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine for the first time sees China's interest in ending the war.
On February 15, at the Munich Security Conference, Wang Yi said that China hopes for the participation of all interested parties in peace talks.
On February 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said that China fully supports the UN multilateral mechanism for nuclear arms control and is ready to cooperate with russia and the United States on this issue.
