Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for prompt and thoughtful work on agreements with the United States, in particular on rare earth metals and security guarantees for Ukraine.
He made this statement in his nightly video address.
Zelenskyy stressed that his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg "restores hope," adding that "Ukraine needs strong agreements with America that will really work."
He stressed the need to "quickly and very, very thoughtfully" work on agreements with the U.S., emphasizing: "The economy and security should always go hand in hand, and the details of the agreements matter: the better the details are spelled out, the greater the result."
Zelenskyy also reported that during the meeting with Kellogg, they discussed the situation on the front, the release of Ukrainian prisoners in russia, and the creation of “a reliable and clear system of security guarantees so that war does not return and the Russians do not ruin lives.”
“We all need peace: Ukraine, Europe, America, everyone in the world,” the President concluded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 19, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for russia and Ukraine Keith Kellogg arrived in Kyiv for a visit.
On the first day of his visit, Kellogg held meetings with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the heads of intelligence and special services.
On February 20, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held talks with Kellogg. He also met with the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak.
Meanwhile, the U.S. asked not to hold a press conference after the meeting between Kellogg and the President of Ukraine.
