British PM tells Zelenskyy that suspending elections during wartime is justified

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called suspending elections during wartime justified against the backdrop of statements by US President Donald Trump.

This was reported on the website of the British government.

Thus, Starmer spoke with Zelenskyy on the evening of February 19 and stressed the need for joint work.

"The Prime Minister expressed his support for President Zelenskyy as the democratically elected leader of Ukraine and said that suspending elections during wartime, as the United Kingdom did during World War II, is entirely justified," the report says.

In addition, the British Prime Minister confirmed his support for US efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine, which deters russia from any future aggression.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that elections need to be held in Ukraine because Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly has a very low level of support among citizens.
