The geopolitical axis London-Kyiv-Ankara is gaining more and more importance against the backdrop of changes in the European and transatlantic security system, believes Bohdan Popov, an expert at the United Ukraine think tank.
He writes about this in his article for the Ukrainian News Agency.
According to the expert, this triangle of influence has the potential to significantly change the balance of power in the Black Sea region and the Middle East, especially in the context of the divergence of positions between the US, Great Britain and the EU on the settlement of the russian-Ukrainian war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent visit to Ankara demonstrated the strengthening of Ukrainian-Turkish relations. Turkey, which has the second-largest army in NATO after the US, has already proven its readiness for military-technical cooperation with Ukraine, in particular through the supply of Bayraktar drones.
The United Kingdom, which seeks to strengthen its global influence after Brexit, is also actively developing military alliances, including the Joint Expeditionary Force with the countries of Northern Europe and the Baltics. According to the expert, Ukraine may become a co-founder of similar rapid response structures in cooperation with Turkey and the United Kingdom to guarantee security in the Black Sea.
"The stability of such a bloc will depend on the ability of its participants to coordinate their interests and jointly promote a fair peace formula based on the UN Charter and Ukraine's inalienable right to protect its territorial integrity," Popov emphasizes.
As previously reported, on February 17, Zelenskyy flew to Turkey to meet with President Erdogan.
