Media explains reasons for sudden cancellation of Zelenskyy's visit to Saudi Arabia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy postponed a working trip to Saudi Arabia to March in order not to legitimize the meeting of the U.S. and russian delegations in Riyadh.

Reuters reported this, citing its sources.

"(Ukraine) did not want to give legitimacy to what happened in Riyadh," the agency's interlocutor noted.

Recall, on February 18, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that against the backdrop of negotiations between russia and the U.S., he announced the postponement of his trip to Saudi Arabia. He explained this by saying that he "does not want any coincidences."

This statement was made after a meeting between representatives of the U.S. and russia was held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on February 18. This was the first meeting of official delegations of these countries since the start of the full-scale invasion. These negotiations lasted 4.5 hours.

Zelenskyy was expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening, February 18. Zelenskyy had previously announced his visit to Saudi Arabia, but denied planning any meetings with representatives of the United States or russia.
