President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in favor of involving Türkiye in negotiations to end russia's war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said this during a meeting with the media following a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In particular, he said that he and Erdogan discussed in great detail all the global processes that could lead to the end of russia's war against Ukraine.
"We discussed all the prospects that exist. I am convinced that for Ukraine, for our region, for Europe, it is fundamentally important that any negotiations on ending the war do not take place behind the backs of key actors affected by the consequences of Russian aggression. Ukraine, Europe in a broad sense, and this includes the European Union, Türkiye, and Britain, should be involved in the talks and development of the necessary security guarantees together with America, which concern the fate of our part of the world," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that for the war to end with a reliable and lasting peace, no mistakes must be made.
"This is possible only when the negotiations are fair and both Ukraine and America and all of Europe are represented at the negotiating table, and guarantees are developed with the participation of everyone who is really capable of giving them. And it is fair that Türkiye is such a subject, is part of Europe," he stressed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye on the evening of Monday, February 17, on an official visit.
It was expected that after Türkiye, Zelenskyy would go to Saudi Arabia, where russian-American negotiations took place on Tuesday, February 18, but he stated that he had postponed the visit to Saudi Arabia to March 10 because he "does not want any coincidences" and "so that the partners do not think anything unnecessary."
