The Ministry of Energy does not plan to raise tariffs due to the purchase of nuclear reactors for the construction of power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
Minister Herman Halushchenko announced this at a briefing, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"There are no plans to raise tariffs for electricity today," he said.
According to the Minister, there are tariffs that are valid until the end of the heating season, which are going to be extended in the future.
"Now I see this discussion, also a large number of energy "experts". They are starting to throw in that they will raise tariffs now in order to build. In fact, this is not true and, in general, all these things are not connected in any way," Halushchenko added.
He explained that the construction of new power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP is a commercial project for which financing will be attracted, which will later pay off.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Inna Sovsun, a Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Holos faction and a member of the Energy and Housing and Communal Services Committee, stated that the recent increase in electricity tariffs paid by consumers will be used to purchase new reactors for the Khmelnytskyi NPP in Bulgaria.
The Verkhovna Rada has granted permission to the Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company to purchase equipment (nuclear reactors and components) from the National Electricity Company of Bulgaria for the construction of power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
Earlier, the initiative to build power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP based on Rosatom reactors delivered to Bulgaria caused controversy during discussions in expert circles and among politicians.
