Drone was flying at altitude of 85 meters, radars did not see it – Zelenskyy on russian attack on Chornobyl NPP

The russian strike drone, which hit the sarcophagus above the 4th power unit of the Chornobyl NPP, was flying at an altitude of 85 meters. Radars did not see it.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a conversation with journalists at the Munich Security Conference.

"The drone was flying at an altitude of 85 meters. It is important to understand that radars do not see this height. This gives us the opportunity to say that they did it on purpose. It is not that the drone somehow changed direction, etc. The strike was precisely on the sarcophagus and precisely on the day the Munich Security Conference began," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that this is a clear "hello" from dictator putin and the russian federation.

Zelenskyy also added that this is another proof that putin does not want peace.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, as a result of a russian drone strike on the night of February 14 on the New Safe Confinement of the Shelter facility (NSC) above Chornobyl NPP’s Unit 4 and the resulting fire, the integrity of the NSC outer shell and equipment in the crane maintenance garage were damaged.

Ukraine called on the IAEA and the world community to immediately step up efforts to prevent russian attacks on nuclear facilities after the strike on the Shelter Arch of Chornobyl NPP’s Unit 4.
