As a result of a russian drone hitting the New Safe Confinement of the Shelter facility (NSC) above Unit 4 of the Chornobyl NPP on the night of February 14 and the resulting fire, the integrity of the NSC outer shell and equipment in the crane maintenance garage were damaged.
The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine has reported this on Telegram.
"As a result of the hit and fire, the integrity of the NSC outer shell and equipment in the crane maintenance garage were damaged. Fire extinguishing work and assessment of the consequences are ongoing," the report says.
At the same time, the Inspectorate emphasized that "the impact of the event on the safety of the NSC shelter facility requires additional assessment."
At the same time, it is emphasized that as of 8:00 a.m., the radiation situation at the site is unchanged.
The State Agency for Nuclear Safety and Environmental Protection specified that, according to the state specialized enterprise Chornobyl NPP, on February 14, 2025 at 1:54 a.m., a russian UAV hit the New Safe Confinement nuclear safety facility, where the largest man-made disaster in human history occurred in 1986.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a russian drone hit the sarcophagus at the Chornobyl NPP, and the facility was damaged by fire.
