The first float glass (sheet) factory in Ukraine will be built in the Kyiv region by 2028.
This is indicate in a statement by the Ministry of Economy, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The launch of the relevant project was announced yesterday by investors of the NovaSklo company with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the government office for attracting investments UkraineInvest.
The statement says that the NovaSklo company and UkraineInvest signed a memorandum of cooperation, which, in particular, provides for the provision of legal, advisory, and analytical support to the investor by the government office in order for the project to obtain a special status, which will allow it to apply for tax and customs benefits, as well as reimbursement by the state of part of the costs for the constructed engineering and transport infrastructure and connection to networks.
It is noted that the NovaSklo company is a project of the Ukrainian investment company EFI Group, which provides for the construction of the first large and modern float glass factory in Ukraine.
The initiative promises to become a platform for attracting strategic investments in the development of the country's industry during the war.
The planned investment in the project is EUR 240 million and in the first year of operation, the enterprise will create more than 300 new jobs.
UkraineInvest, a government agency authorized to support projects with significant investments, will provide key support to this project.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2024 the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested a record almost EUR 2.4 billion in Ukraine.
